Know what is moving

A domain transfer is not a website or email migration.

Included in this journey

Domain registration transfer

The registrar relationship, renewal management, and domain registration move to InterProWebHost. Existing nameservers and DNS records normally continue working unless they are deliberately changed.

Assessed separately

Website, database, or mailbox migration

Files, databases, applications, calendars, contacts, and mailbox content do not move automatically with the domain. These require a separate scope review under our Migration Policy.

Before you transfer

Make sure your domain is ready to move.

The fastest transfers happen when your current registrar account is prepared before checkout. If you are unsure, InterProWebHost can help you review the steps.

Frequently asked questions

Domain transfer questions, answered.

What does a domain transfer move?

It moves management of the domain registration to InterProWebHost. It does not automatically move website files, databases, applications, calendars, contacts, or mailbox content.

Why can a domain be ineligible to transfer?

A domain may be locked, within a 60-day registration or transfer lock, expired, missing an authorization code, or restricted by extension-specific registry rules.

What is an EPP or authorization code?

It is a transfer authorization code from your current registrar. You normally obtain it after unlocking the domain and use it to approve the move.

How long does a domain transfer take?

Many transfers complete within several days. Timing depends on the extension, current registrar, approval steps, and registry rules. Keeping the domain unlocked and responding promptly to approval messages helps avoid delays.

Will my website or email stop working?

Existing nameservers and DNS records normally remain active during a registrar transfer. Document the records first, avoid unnecessary nameserver changes, and verify the website and email after completion.

Does a transfer add another registration year?

Many eligible extensions receive an additional registration year, but registry-specific exceptions apply. The current term effect is confirmed during checkout.

What will the domain renew for?

The pricing table shows current renewal prices for the listed extensions. Checkout confirms the applicable renewal amount and registry rules before purchase.

Can I transfer multiple domains?

Yes. Each domain must be eligible and have its own authorization code. Businesses can consolidate primary, campaign, location, and defensive domains into one account.
