cPanel uses contact email settings for account alerts and supported password recovery. Keep an address you can still reach if this hosting account has a problem. These settings belong to cPanel; review your InterProWebHost billing profile separately when your business contact details change.
Contact Information is also available inside Account Preferences from cPanel & WHM 130. Notification choices vary by server configuration.
Before you start
- Have your cPanel account password and access to the new contact mailbox. Check the address carefully before saving it.
- Prefer a contact mailbox hosted independently of this cPanel account, so a full mailbox or hosting outage does not also hide important alerts.
Instructions
Open contact settings
Sign in to cPanel and open Preferences, then Account Preferences. Find Contact Information. On an older layout, open the separate Contact Information tool.
Update the email addresses
Enter the primary contact email and, if useful, a secondary address you also monitor. These are notification destinations; this screen does not create an email mailbox.
Confirm the change
Enter your cPanel password in Account Password or the equivalent confirmation field when changing a contact email address.
Review notifications
Check Contact Preferences for useful alerts such as account password changes, contact address changes, and disk quota warnings. Review AutoSSL notification choices if your account exposes them.
Save each changed section
Choose Save Changes or Save as shown. If the page separates contact information and notification controls, save each section that you edited.
Check the result
- Reopen the settings and confirm the intended address and notification choices remain saved.
- Check the new mailbox and its spam folder for any change notification. Do not assume every preference has a built-in test message.
Troubleshooting
- The contact screen or an alert option is missing.
- Available settings depend on the hosting configuration and account permissions. Ask support which notification controls your account supports.
- Notifications still arrive at an old address.
- Identify whether the message came from cPanel or the InterProWebHost billing system. Update the relevant profile; one system's change need not update the other.
